  • Pantech Pursuit II AT&T Mobile Features

    The Pursuit II is just a touch larger than its predecessor. It measures 4 by 2.4 by .6 inches (HWD) and weighs 4.5 ounces. It’s made entirely of shiny, hard plastic, but it feels solid. The lime green accent band and details aren’t to my taste, but they add a touch of visual interest. The display is still the same 2.8-inches with 240-by-320 pixel resolution, though luckily it’s a capacitive touch screen instead of resistive this time around.

    Sony VAIO VPC-SC1AFM Laptop Features

    By: Peak Fun On: 9:07 AM

  • Sony VAIO VPC-SC1AFM owns the Blu-ray format, it was only fitting that the SC1AFM optical drive reads Blu-ray discs. It’s probably the only 13-inch ultraportable that sports this kind of a drive, since small screens can’t fully exploit a 1080p resolution. But then again, you can use the built-in HDMI port to hook the SC1AFM to, say, a 50-inch plasma in your living room. The other technology is called Wireless Display 2.0 (WiDi 2.0), which is essentially a wireless version of HDMI.WiDi 2.0 isn’t your only wireless connection; the SC1AFM is also equipped with WiMAX (4G technology), 802.11n Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. My only complaint is that all of the ports and slots are situated on the right side. One of the three USB ports boasts USB 3.0 technology, which can transfer data at 10 times the speed of USB 2.0. The 500GB (7,200rpm) hard drive matches the one found in the Acer AS3830TG, but is smaller than that of the R835-P50X (640GB). Like many Sony laptops, there are separate memory slots for SD and Memory Stick formats.

    Sony VAIO VPC-SC1AFM Laptop Specifications

        * Type Media, Ultraportable, Gaming Ultraportable
        * Processor Name Intel Core i5-2410M
        * Operating System Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
        * Processor Speed 2.3 GHz
        * RAM 4 GB
        * Weight 3.8 lb
        * Screen Size 13.3 inches
        * Screen Size Type widescreen
        * Graphics Card Intel HD Graphics 3000
        * 2nd Graphics Card AMD Radeon HD 6470M
        * Storage Capacity  500 GB

    Cambridge Audio Minx S315 – High Sound System Review

  • HTS-101 and Jamo’s A 101 HCS 5 offering amazing sound quality at affordable prices, you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to compact speaker systems. And Cambridge Audio’s Minx S315 isn’t about to make your decision any easier. Like its rivals, it’s a stylish 5.1-channel system that features a set of dinky, space-saving satellites that blend in discreetly with their surroundings – an increasingly important factor given that most people simply don’t have the space to house enormous floorstanders. The S315 system comprises five identical Min 10 satellites and the X300 subwoofer. The cube-shaped satellites measure 78(w) x 78(h) x 85(d)mm, which is smaller than a can of Coke (see below). They’re possibly the cutest compact speakers we’ve clapped eyes on, and with their gleaming gloss black (or white) finish, curved edges and light grey trim they’re extremely stylish too. Add luxurious build quality into the equation and you’ve got yourself a real talking point for your living room.

    Dell Streak 7 By T-Mobile Review

    By: Peak Fun On: 10:25 AM
  • Share The Gag
  • The Streak 7 looks like most of its Android brethren, with a 7-inch, 800-by-480 display framed by a glossy black plastic case. A 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera sits above the screen when the tablet is horizontal, and Backward, Settings, and Home touch-sensitive controls are situated along the right-edge of the display. There's a 30-pin connector on the bottom panel—the 30 pin-to-USB cable is included, and the USB end also plugs into the power adapter that ships with the Streak 7 for charging. Internal stereo speakers are embedded in the left- and right-hand panels, along with a 3.5-mm headphone jack (earbuds are included, unlike with the Apple iPad) and a snap-shut compartment that houses the SIM card and SD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32 additional GB) to supplement the 16GB of internal storage. Up top, there's a Power button and Volume controls, and on the back panel, above the Dell and T-Mobile logos, the rear-facing 5-megapixel camera and LED flash.

  • After seeing the prototypes of flexible displays, for example, the concept of Galaxy skins there is so futuristic. The designer Heyon You imagined a phone built with those technologies and manufactured by Samsung. Flexible AMOLED screen, the skins can be bent to end up in your pocket, or function as a bracelet. At the moment it seems only science fiction, but perhaps in a few years we'll be here to review.

  • Sony HDR-FX1 HDV Camcorder
    Sony HDR-FX1 HDV Camcorder

    Government-mandated HD television broadcast standards and the widespread availability (if not affordability) of HD televisions contribute to creating a demand for HD content. While Sony's HDR-FX1 is not meant to compete with $20,000 professional HD solutions, for small shops, local event videographers and elite hobbyists, high-def home video is a reality.

    Looks Like A VX2100
    One of the most serious issues with HDV at this date is delivery: How will you (and your audience) watch your HD video? Everyone we know owns a standard-definition television, but very few have HD. We want you to keep that in mind as you read this review and ponder the move to a new format.

    Japanese Create Robot Nurse

  • Japanese researchers have created a robot nurse that can lift elderly patients from wheelchairs and beds. Naturally, it looks like a giant teddy bear.

    Riba, short for Robot for Interactive Body Assistance, was developed by the state-run Riken research center. Promoters are calling it the world's first robot to lift people in its arms.
    Riba can move patients weighing up to 134 pounds in its foam-padded paws and transfer them from beds to wheelchairs. Its cute face is designed to make the 400-pound robot less imposing. Very kawaii.

  • Toshiba Satellite L745-S4210 Review - School Laptop

    The Toshiba Satellite L745-S4210 is the kind of back to school laptop parents wouldn't mind buying for their kids, because it's practical and unpretentious. And by unpretentious, I mean it comes off a little bland and thick compared to its peers. But what it lacks in flare it makes up for with an up-to-date processor, great battery life, and affordable pricing. Students, though, would rather sink their teeth into something that'll impress on the outside and in. Toshiba employed the right materials on the cover, using a brushed aluminum finish with a navy blue tint. Anything attractive about its metallic top, however, is undone by its overly thick frame. It measures 1.3 inches thick, which is much bulkier than the HP Pavilion dm4-1265dx ($649.99, 4 stars) (1-inch thick) and even larger budget laptops like the 15-inch HP Pavilion dv6-6013cl ($649.99 list, 4.5 stars) and Acer Aspire AS5742-6811 ($699.99 list, 4 stars). Despite its bulk, the L745-S4210 4.5 pound frame is only a smidge heavier than HP dm4-1265dx (4.4 pounds). Though not much to get excited about, the L745-S4210 has all the essential features that an average user would need. This includes three USB 2.0 ports, one of which offers Sleep and Charge, a feature that let's you charge your phone or music player when the laptop is turned off. It has a built-in DVD burner, a feature that you wouldn't get with some smaller laptops like the 13-inch HP dm3t. The HDMI port is your ticket to external LCD hookups, where you can stream both audio and video. The laptop also features the standard VGA,Ethernet, and audio jacks. It has a 4-in-1 card reader and 1.3-Megapixel webcam.

  • Dell Optiplex 990 Desktop PC Review

    The Optiplex 990 is a standard sized minitower desktop, which means it has a decent amount of internal expansion space. It has the same sort of silver grey mesh motif that we've seen on other Optiplex systems like the Dell Optiplex 780 USFF ($1,484 direct, 4 stars). It's a modern look, and will fit into most cube farms without a problem. Getting into the case is as easy as lifting a lever—all the IT-serviceable components are tool-free. There's space for one more optical drive, two memory DIMMs, one PCI card, and one PCIe x16 card (electrically x4). The system's other install points are already filled. The Optiplex 990 has two 500GB hard drives linked in a RAID 1 (mirroring) array. This means that your PC is complete and stays functional, even if one of the hard drives physically fails. Hard drives all eventually fail, depending on use, and having a RAID 1 array is a way to make sure your critical tasks can't be stopped by hard drive failure.

    HTC Tube Tablet Hybrid Concept

  • HTC Tube Tablet Hybrid Concept

    The designer Antoine Brieux has designed a special device called the HTC Tablet Tube, consisting of a 10-inch touchscreen with 6400 mAh battery and a card that contains all of the rest of the hardware that can be extracted and inserted into an envelope with a screen and a smaller battery to turn into a smartphone.

    HTC Tube Tablet is interesting and technologically feasible, but perhaps the cost savings of such a solution does not compensate for the added convenience that you get with two independent devices.
